Drawing and Procreate
2023 was the last Christmas we would celebrate with my mom. She bought me an Apple Pencil, a response to “what do you want this year?” My parents had long since dispensed of surprise gifts in favor of Amazon lists. For me, the Pencil was intended for score edits in Forscore, the go-to music gigging app. Instead it turned out to be the start of something unexpected.
When we finally got together to exchange gifts in early January, thanks to a Covid hit in our house, she wanted to try our her gift on an art program. We found one, and off she went, drawing a cat. Then I tried the same. It was fun. I downloaded a few free apps before purchasing Procreate, the gold standard for iPad art. I was hooked. I guess this is my new hobby now. I don’t have many of those. They’re nice. You can suck at them and no one will judge you. Or maybe they will but who cares?
